Japanese English (II)

During a conversation, you may find a strange word.
Some of them are developed in Japan.
For example, salary man.
If you ask someone, "What is your job?".
His answer might be a salaryman.
What he wants to say is "I'm an employee".

Typhoons

Typhoon !!

18 typhoons already were born in this year and seven of them were landed in Japan.
This is another new record. In 1990 and 1993, 6 typhoons were landed in Japan.

When you are making a travel plan, it seems a smart way not to use airplane and ship.
They get an impact of typhoon directly and delay or cancel might happen.

Good luck

This is Daruma.
The Japanese uses daruma in case of election or new business start.
Initially daruma doesn't have any eye.
Then wishing success, he put one eye on daruma.
If he succeeds in election or business, he puts another eye.

You see many darumas at souvenir shops.

Communication

The Japanese hesitates to say "No" in any business ocasion.
They normally use "we will think it." instead
If you hear this word, the deal may not be completed.
If they say " Let me talk with my boss.", it is a kind of good signal.
If they start to explain that the approval system takes long., it means they want to do business.
This is important sign from the Japanese during business meeting.

Cicadas!!

After rainy season

Hundreds of cicadas come out from ground.
You hear chirring of cicadas in chorus
It sounds like just loud noise and makes up feel much hotter.

At the end of summer, the species of the cicadas are going to change.
When the last cicadas start to make noise, it is the time for children to finish the homework for summer vacation.

Japanese Sales way

There are many sales person in Japan.
The old sales way is drinking and golfing.
In daytime, they make quotations and send bills to their clients.
After 3 o'clock they visit their customers and chat with them then invite to go to drink.
This entertainment keep the in their hands.
On weekend, the customers are invited to go golfing.
They will bet their score each other but the host never win.
It was a typical business manner in Japan.

This type of sales method doesn't work on new type of business companies, especially IT company.
They never have time for drinking and golfing.

Sales method is going to change.

Feeling temperature changes around 2 degree taking off your jacket.
And you can feel better with 2 more degree cooler taking off your tie.
It is good sense to wear fashionable shirt without a tie carrying a jacket.

Sahara Desert in an airplane

Japan and French University reported that humidity in an airplane is around 9 %.
It is as same as Sahara desert humidity.

No wonder we feel so thirsty.
Such dried air promotes dehydration.
Take water before boarding and in a airplane.
