Momiji-gari

Momiji-gari

Momiji means maple leaves and gari means hunting
Autumn leaves viewing (a maple leaves hunting) With deepening of autumn, falling trees begin to color in red or yellow. Maple hunting has been performed from ancient times in order to see and enjoy a change of the beautiful color.
Since the leaves fall, it is said that the difference of temperature of day and night is large that it becomes such a vivid color in which a leaf colors. Autumnal leaves are preparations for winter of the trees which begin from north. the scarlet maple leaves front to south. Incidentally a spring cherry blossom front is the seasonal letter which moves to north from south contrary to a scarlet maple leaves front.
But there is no word of Sakura-gari(cherry blossom hunting). We call it "Hanami", here Hana means cherry blossoms.
Gingko trees change green to yellow.
Maple trees change green to red.

Please enjoy beautiful Japan during good season.
