It is a quiet new year.
Many super markets open from Jan. 1. Department stores open from Jan 2.
They used to be off gor three days.

Shrines and Temples are full of peoples who want to pray the health, happiness and wealth.
It isn't a good season to visit Japan for sightseeing.
It might be fun to observe Japanese culture during new year season.

There are so many strange abbreviation of English words.

One of them is "Paso-kon", it means personal computer.
"wa- pro" means word processor.

Japanese use so many English words in daily conversation but shorten words are used.

Another strange abbreviation is "Pato-car".
Pato-car means a Police car but Japanesecall it "patrol car" and it becomes shorten word "Pato=car".

it is difficultto study Japanese.

Star Festival

Topic: Culture

Star Festival

July 7 is one of five season-related celebrations, 1/1, 3/3, 5/5, 7/7, 9/9, 11/11.
1/1 and 5/5 are only national holiday now.

But we celebrate start festival.

It is told that legendary once-a-year rendezvous of two stars in the Milky way
It turns a wish comes true. So we write a wish on a strip of paper and hung it on the decollated bamboo tree.

There are many Tanabata festivals in various places.

Sendai, Hiratsuka, Anjyo and Ichinomiya.
If you have a chance, it is a good experience of Japanese culture.
