ANA moves to Terminal 1 at Narita Airport on June 2.

One of the Star Alliance Airlines, ANA, moves to Terminal 1 at Narita Airport on June 2.
There are two terminals at Narita International Airport, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Terminal 1 is mainly used by foreign airlines and Terminal 2 is used by Japanese airlines.
Now Star Alliance Carriers get together to the same terminal and becomes more conveinent.
For example, tansit time becomes much shorter than before as long as you use the alliance airlines.

New Airport opens in Kyushu

Kita-Kyusyu Airport has opened on March 16.
This airport is 21 hour operation.
New Airline Starflyer operate over 10 flights between Tokyo and Kita-Kyusyu.

Intensity 5 upper - Earthquake in Tokyo metoropolitan area

The strong earthquake happened in the Kanto region at about 4:35 PM of the 23rd, and intensity 5 upper was recorded in Tokyo and Yokohama. Transportation, railway, roads, was paralyzed in the metropolitan area. The terminal station etc. where was crowded on the first weekend during summer vacation, were greatly confused. 27 people were injured in Tokyo and three prefectures.

As for the epicenter, the magnitude is presumed to be 6.0 in the Chiba Prefecture northwest according to the Meteorological Agency.

Narita and Haneda airports were closed for the check at one o'clock. Shinkansens such as Tokaido also temporarily stopped the operation. The conventional JR lines and the Tokyo metro such as Yamanote Line stopped, too.

These transportation systems recovered 4- 7 hours later.

Rinimo(II)

I have wrote regarding Rinimo on March 8.
It has troub;e today that so many people get on Rinimo and safty weigh sensor detected over weigh.
Some people have toget off and try to get n next train. It has 5 - 10 minutes dely.
It is an invitation day for the local people in advance of official opening.
I should be ok by the opening day.

Rinimo

Rinimo(Linear Motor car) starts operation for Aichi Expo.

Run to slide down on a flat orbit, and in Aichi Prefecture Nagakute-cho on Rinimo =
afternoon of the sixth that enters the Expo site station


Between Fujigaoka, Nagoya City subway station and Nagakute-cho station for Aichi Expo, Rinimo began the service smoothly.
It will take 17 minutes from Fujigaoka and 35 minutes from Nagoya station..

I think this is first commercial base lenear motor car in Japan.

Women only train car!?

JR and private train companies introduced women only train car system.
Only women and young boy with mother can get on the train car.
The operating time varies companies.
A company operates this car systme only in the morning.
Another company does only after 23:00 o'clock.
Main purpose of this introduction is against sexual molester.

There are signs on floor of platform and side of the train cars.

New International Airport to Nagoya (II)

Toyota supports this airport operation.
So the famous cost down method, Kanban method, is used.
Kanban Method is "just in the time inventory system" developed by Toyota..
They saved 30 % of construction cost. Total cost becomes 6.4 billion Japanese Yen.

New International Airport to Nagoya

New airport opened in Chubu area on Feb 17. The name is Centrair.
The access to Nagoya becomes much easier with this airport.
2005 World Exposition will be held in Nagoya.

This airport is operated by non-govermental organization, Central Japan International Airport Energy Supply Co.,Ltd..
Normally airport is operated by govermental organization.

Shinkan sen(III)

Joetsu Shinkan sen starts to run from Tokyo to Niigata from tomorrow.
It takes 66 days to fix the damage.
There were so many damegesncluding detail the train, tunnel damage etc. Of course, it is the first time for Shinkan sen not to operate for a long time. except some bad weather.

The cause of derail is still investigating by
scientists.


It is good to have Shinkan sen runs.

In subway stations, safety gates are getting equipped.
When a train comes into the station, it opens automatically.
There are various types of gates in different lines.

It will be much safer for travelers.

Trash Boxes at stations

During traveling we may leave trashes.
Train stations equip trash box for travelers trash.
Recently Private railroad companies took trash boxes off from stations for anti-terrorism
JR companies have trash boxes at stations and inside of trains but it seems tighter security than before.
But JR carried away the trash boxes from the Narita Express trains (train getting into Narita Airport)

Eidan Chikatetsu (Subway) changed the name to "Tokyo Metro".

They have added new sign on each station.
The alphabet shows the line and the number means station name.
For example, M means Marunouchi line and 25 means 25th station. from west or south end
