A Happy New Year!!

It is a great season to have long off days in Japan.
Generally offices close from Dec 30 - Jan 3 at least.

Every houses have Kadomatsu or Shimenawa in front of house.
Kadomatsu is decoration made from pine branches and bammboo. It is used a pair of Kadomatsu both side of front gate.
Kadomatsu is a symbol to invite a god to the house.
Pine tree is a symbol of longevity.

Shimenawa(Shimekazari) is made by straw, orenge, red and white paper.
It is bieved to bring good luck to the house.
